About Mandy

Mandy is a Kodály-inspired music educator who believes in joyful, interactive, and sequential music teaching and learning. Algate holds a Master of Music degree in music education with Kodály emphasis from Texas Tech University, and Kodály certification from Portland State University. Algate teaches PreK-5th grade music in Lubbock, Texas, teaches on the staff of the West Texas Children's Chorus, and is a Kodály Musicianship instructor for the online conservatory of the National Children's Chorus. Algate was a founding board member of Kodály Educators of West Texas, a chapter of OAKE, and teaches pedagogy for the West Texas Kodály Initiative Levels program. It is her goal to engage all learners in an engaging and individualized music experience which leads to a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
